Why the Variety Bash?

Our inspiration to volunteer and fundraise for The Variety Children’s Charity Bash:

As more families are doing it tough it is the perfect time to support children in rural Australia to ‘live, laugh and learn’. Rural kids don’t always have the same opportunities as city kids and sometimes the hardships of remote and farming communities are overlooked. Variety provides fantastic assistance to less privileged country kids.

Helping kids, our next generation, just makes sense. The support Variety provides to children is designed to help them now and into the future. This on-going support aligns with our personal values and those promoted by the Brisbane-based children’s cartoon, Bluey, our chosen theme for the 2024 Variety Bash. Bluey teaches children about self-regulation, waiting your turn, kindness towards others, conflict resolution and how to cope with strong feelings. The show also teaches children that family doesn't just stop at relatives; it extends to all those in the community.

The Variety Bash is a tongue-in-cheek adventure. Why else would you choose to bash thousands of kilometres through the dust, burning sun and chilling rain in a 30-year-old 2WD car through the rough outback roads to visit rural schools? The Bash requires mateship and camaraderie to succeed. It also aligns with our sense of giving and personal enjoyment from all things motor vehicles, fun, and good mates. The Bash will be dry, dusty, down to earth and a little bit dangerous, but the true joy will lie in witnessing the joy and gratitude from our Aussie rural kids in need of a helping hand.

Giving back is what life is all about! We can’t wait for all the Bash experiences and breaking our fundraising targets.

Please help and support our fundraising drive. Thank you from the Bluey’s Bandits team!
